I have just purchased a 456z Bell and Howell projector. When I run films through it, it seems that the movie is running too slowly. The films were taken using a Bauer C2 at 18 fps.
I have open the projector's motor case and the system of belts and wheels go beyond my logic and against my understanding of mechanics!
My questions are: Is that slow motion look typical to super 8? What speed is that projector running at? Does anyone know how to run the projector faster? (there is a nob to adjust the speed down but not up). Should I risk to take films at 12 fps - I am worried that the projector is then going to run to fast for the film, and if I slow it down the image is going to flicker.
Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
LPB

You know, I've had several Bell and Howell projectors and for the most part I do not like them. Of course, my case may be an isolated incident, but I find them to be flimsy. I think that for the serious Super 8 fanatic, you have to go with your higher end models like the Elmo's, Beaulieus, etc ... I know this doesn't directly answer your question but I hope it helps with any future plans. Stanley K.
